Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Dev Mahadevan is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in foot & ankle surgery. He graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2002 and completed his specialist orthopaedic training in the East Midlands Deanery. He subsequently undertook advanced fellowship training in foot & ankle surgery at the renowned Avon Orthopaedic Centre in Bristol.
He specialises in the assessment and treatment of all foot and ankle conditions, including:
• Sports injuries
• Tendon and ligament repair and reconstruction
• Bunions and lesser toe deformity correction
• Foot and ankle arthritis
• Foot and ankle fractures
His major clinical interest is in arthroscopic and endoscopic (keyhole surgery) treatment of ankle and foot conditions. He is actively involved in research and has a strong research portfolio, with over 20 peer-reviewed publications. His particular research interest is on bunion correction, arthritis of the big toe, interdigital (Morton's) neuroma and Achilles tendon inflammation.
Dev is a Consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading and his private practice is based at Circle Reading, Spire Dunedin and Berkshire Independent Hospitals.

Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon
Mr Ian Nugent specialises specifically in adult foot and ankle conditions. He has over 20 years of consultant clinical experience in orthopaedic foot and ankle surgery. He has interest in both acute injury and more chronic conditions offering surgical and non-surgical therapies. He now works exclusively at the Circle Hospital in Reading treating adult foot and ankle conditions.
Ian was born in Colchester, Essex and educated at Ipswich School in Suffolk. He graduated in Medicine from St. Thomas' Hospital Medical School London in 1983 (BSc. MBBS) and trained in orthopaedic surgery at The John Radcliffe Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre in Oxford and The Royal United Hospital in Bath. He completed a fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma and Foot and Ankle Surgery in Toronto Canada. He was appointed as a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in Reading at The Royal Berkshire Hospital in 1994 as a Specialist Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Consultant, and was one of the founding consultants of CircleReading in 2012, where he now practices.
His special clinical interests are sports injuries and rehabilitation, non-sport related injury, foot and ankle arthritis and deformity.
Ian is married with two children and enjoys a variety of sports including golf, cricket, rugby and cycling either participating or watching. He enjoys hiking and travelling as well as home based pursuits such as gardening and DIY.
Consultant Children's Orthopaedic Surgeon
Nev underwent his basic medical training at St. Mary's Hospital Medical School, London and qualified in 2000. After completing Basic Surgical Training in London he moved to Oxford and spent six years on the Oxford Orthopaedic Specialist Registrar training programme where he developed an interest in adult knee surgery and children’s orthopaedics. In 2009 he undertook a fellowship in Sydney, working at the Children’s Hospital Westmead, under the wing of Assistant Professor David Little, specialising in children’s orthopaedics.
Nev was made a substantive NHS consultant at the Royal Berkshire Hospital in November 2011. He has been involved in teaching and research throughout his career and has presented at international meetings and published work in peer reviewed journals. He has also written two books on orthopaedics both published by Oxford University Press.
Nev has a particular interest in children’s & adolescent knee conditions. On the adult side his main interest is Unicompartmental Knee Replacement. Nev has published research during his training on a wide variety of topics, including Children's Reported Outcome Measures in Orthopaedics and Telescopic Growing Rods. His current projects at the Royal Berkshire Hospital include the treatment of Perthes disease and management of musculoskeletal infection in children.
Nev is married with three young children. Outside work, Nev is a keen golfer and is a proud supporter of the Welsh Rugby Team.
Nick Gallogly specialises in biomechanics, gait analysis and the management of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular lower limb conditions.
Nick first qualified in 2004 with a degree in Medical Mechanical Engineering from Dublin which predominantly focused on the medical application of biomechanics. He then qualified from Salford University with honours in Prosthetics and Orthotics. In early 2014 he attained a Master’s Degree in Clinical Biomechanics from Staffordshire University.
Nick currently works as the head of service and Orthotic Clinical Lead at the Royal Berkshire Foundation Trust Hospital.
Nick is also the official foot and ankle specialist to a number of professional sports team. These include the GB rowing and Para-Rowing Teams, London Irish Rugby, Bath Rugby, Bristol Rugby, Gloucester Ruby , Connacht Rugby and Reading FC academy. He is also a qualified medical classifier for GB Para Rowing.
Nick has a research interest in the identification and management tibialis posterior tendon dysfunction in primary care and has developed a pathway in the management of this condition across Reading. He also has a keen interest in sports injury prevention, lower limb orthotic management and the conservative orthotic management of neurological conditions.
Nick is married with 2 young girls and enjoys watching rugby and go-karting
